Upcoming group classes in Manhattan
Group classes are a great way to train basic commands. Since every dog learns at a different rate, we strive to make class as fun and educational as possible. Exercises are explained and then demonstrated. Students then try the commands with their dogs. The instructor and assistant will come around and help each person through the commands. Groups meet for 6 weeks, each class runs for one hour. Schedule group classes through Biscuits & Bath by calling 212 419 2500.

Exercises taught are attention, sit, stay, down, place, come, heel, drop it, leave it, polite greetings (no jumping on guests and strangers). A strong emphasis is placed on building better owner/dog relationships.

Why should I train my dog?
Training teaches you and your family how to bond and communicate with your dog. It allows your dog to understand what you are asking of them. Urban k-9 believes that training should be balanced and fun. Training your dog allows you to establish yourself as the leader. Many behavior issues begin to disappear when your dog is trained and once this leadership has been attained. Training provides your dog mental and physical stimulation while also building confidence. Training leads to better behaved dog that is able to have more freedom.
Training also helps dogs stay out of shelters. Often people get dogs with the best intentions only to be disappointed when they learn their dog is more work than they anticipated. Without proper training, these dogs often end up in the shelter. Our city is full of them. Sometimes they get adopted and sometimes they don’t. But if given the opportunity to learn and be trained, the dog would not have ended up in this situation in the first place. People often wait until a behavior has escalated to seek help. While that effort is applauded it is best to train as soon as possible to avoid the frustrations that can come with an untrained dog. A trained dog will have a better opportunity to live a happy life.
